I’ve been writing a good deal about about William Jefferson (D-La, likely corrupt) lately, because I think it’s an important opportunity for Dems to show how differently they react to corruption than Republicans do. Republicans have tended to defend the corrupt among them, but I’ve argued that Democrats should root out the corrupt few in […]

ABC is reporting that Republican House Majority Leader Dennis Hastert is now in jeopardy from connections the FBI is eyeing with corrupt convicted Republican mega-lobbyist Jack Abramoff.
Federal officials say the information implicating Hastert was developed from convicted lobbyists who are now cooperating with the government.
Part of the investigation involves a letter Hastert wrote three […]

As you know, I’ve been covering this story for a few days now, and becoming more and more interested in it. The short of it is this: House Representative William Jefferson (D-La) is wrapped up in this big bribery scandal with businessmen who have already plead guilty themselves, and at least one of them has […]

Dems should demand William Jefferson’s (D-La, likely corrupt) resignation, VirginiaDem and kos are right. Democrats need to impose exactly the type of no-tolerance policy for corruption in the party that Republicans have failed so utterly to do.
I want to see a full blown press conference with Democrats united in condemnation of this corrupt man - […]

Okay, first thing’s first. In case you were wondering, yes, I will be covering the story of William Jefferson (D-La, likely corrupt), even though he is a Democrat. This is a story of elected officials being corrupt, and it’s worth following, and the fact that he’s a Democrat doesn’t matter. Earlier today, I outlined a […]

Tagged under Abramoff corruption, even though it’s not really.
The Nation is right. The more I read, hear, and think about William Jefferson (D-La, likely corrupt), the worse he gets.
Here’s a thought from me though. Traditional wisdom dictates that Democrats should be quiet about him, and focus on the scandals in the Republican party.
But that […]

ABC’s blotter has compiled a few choice quotes of corrupt congressman William Jefferson (D-La), as recorded by the FBI. My favorite one is this:
3. “All of these damn notes we’re writing to each other as if we’re talking, as if the FBI is watching.” (said to […]

Exposing and getting rid of corrupt politicians is something that everybody should be able to celebrate. In the case of William Jefferson, House Representative from Louisiana, we can also celebrate the cleaning of the Democratic party as well. Democrat William Jefferson, who has claimed innocence in the […]

Congressman William Jefferson’s (D-La) offices were raided last night by the FBI, as part of the corruption investigation. Now I confess I haven’t been following his story closely (and he has not been indicted… yet), but I agree with Howard Dean’s appraisal of the situation: if he’s indicted, he should resign (he says he won’t). […]

House Ethics probes of William Jefferson (D-LA) and Bob Ney (R-OH) have been launched, Washington Post reports, along with another probe of Duke Cunningham.
After 16 months of inactivity and partisan infighting, the House ethics committee launched investigations last night into bribery allegations against Reps. Robert W. Ney (R-Ohio) and William Jefferson (D-La.) and a separate […]
