See the top 15 most ebmarrassing photos of George W. Bush here. These ones were funny too, but didn’t quite make the cut for one reason or another.
Checking the Presidential fly: Very funny, but unfortunately also very fake.
The lens caps, sir? Although this photo is real, Bush actually removed the lens caps a moment […]

Diverse news sources & Changing public opinion

I thought I’d talk a little bit about news sources.
There used to be a time when wealthy white men would read the morning and maybe evening edition of their favorite newspaper, and that was pretty much the only news consumption that was going on– besides basic word of mouth. It would take days for international […]

The cloture vote to end debate on Supreme Court nominee Alito just passed, with a final vote of 72 to 25. Well damn. Looks like we’ve lost this battle, and Alito will be confirmed tomorrow with a simple majority in a final Senate vote at 11am.
Of interest, Senator Lieberman (”D” - CT), who earlier said […]

His thoughts, after rumors circulated that he opposed filibustering Alito. Some reaction.
For the record, I blog from Chicago IL, and I support Obama largely. I think he made some good points recently.

Fighting the Alito nomination with a Filibuster

0. Troutfishing says to call people you know. What do you tell them to do? At the moment, senators voicemail inboxes and email inboxes are reportedly mostly full (of our messages), so they aren’t taking new ones. It’s down to fax.
1. You can very easily fax several key senators for free, by just filling out […]

Alito Filibuster Update

Filed at 9:15 pm, Thursday January 26th 2006
by Arlen Parsa

Earlier, I wrote about the upcoming filibuster on Supreme Court nominee Alito. So far it’s Senators Kerry and Kennedy. And Lieberman if he comes through on his earlier promise (not to be counted on until we get definitive info).
AP says add Senator Wyden (Dem from Oregon) to that list. Expect updates on the growing list […]

Filibuster Dynamics

Today, Senator Kerry made it public that he wants to filibuster Alito.
You might also remember that Senator Lieberman said he would be open to a filibuster a while back. I first blogged about it here, and speculated that he was only doing it to appease his liberal state, when he didn’t think a filibuster was […]

Strict Party Lines

by Arlen Parsa

Expected:

The Judiciary Committee favorably recommended Samuel Alito’s Supreme Court nomination to the full Senate on a party-line vote Tuesday, moving the conservative jurist one step closer to joining the high court.
All 10 Republicans voted for Alito, while all eight Democrats voted against him. The partisan vote was almost preordained, with 15 of the 18 […]

I’ll provide as much coverage as my schedule allows. Possibly a quick roundup early afternoon, and an extended one in the evening. In the meantime, I sure wouldn’t be surprised if DKos was liveblogging the vote, or at least had some good coverage.
