Somebody remind me, why are we (American taxpayers) paying scandal-infested indicted-arrested-tried-convicted-imprisoned former Republican congressmen for the rest of their lives? Republican Representative Bob Ney is finally resigning, weeks after pleading guilty to Abramoff-related corruption charges.
Ney had still been collecting hundreds of dollars every day as part of his salary after promising to plead guilty and later pleading guilty. I’ve complained (cartoon) about how long he stayed on the public payroll before.

Republican Representative Bob Ney, an admitted target of a federal Abramoff-related corruption investigation has called it quits in his bid for re-election this year. Washington Post has the latest on Republican Senator Bob Ney and the investigation stemming from his Abramoff ties. In a nutshell, one of Ney’s ex-aides has been indicted and has pled guilty is expected to plead guilty, which looks bad for Ney, who maintains his innocence. Full article.
