Flashback… Karl Rove on NPR, October 24 2006:

SIEGEL: We are in the home stretch though and many would consider you on the optimistic end of realism about…
ROVE: Not that you would exhibit a bias, you just making a comment.
SIEGEL: I’m looking at all the same polls that you are looking at.
ROVE: No, you are not. […]

What’s on the agenda for a Democratic House and Senate? Well, first there’s Nancy Pelosi’s 100-hour plan for the House:

Day One: Put new rules in place to “break the link between lobbyists and legislation.”
Day Two: Enact all the recommendations made by the commission that investigated the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
Time remaining until 100 […]

Dear Bob Novak,
You were wrong.
I, a lowly blogger, had more accurate House predictions than you did, and I came a lot closer to predicting the outcome of the Senate than you did.

The following was sent out to Moore’s email list a short time ago.

Friends,
You did it! We did it! The impossible has happened: A majority of Americans have soundly and forcefully removed Bush’s party from control of the House of Representatives and the Republicans have also, miraculously, been tossed out of running our United States Senate. […]

Moments ago from the Associated Press…

U.S. Sen. Conrad Burns (news, bio, voting record) conceded defeat to Jon Tester on Thursday, acknowledging that a tight election had gone to the Democrats’ favor, Burns’ campaign told The Associated Press.
Burns, a three-term senator whose campaign was troubled by verbal gaffes and voter discontent, congratulated Tester, a farmer and […]

Good old fashioned Republican racial harmony
According to CNN exit polling, George Allen swept the African American vote on Tuesday with an astonishing 15% of votes from African American voters, which was approximately 14% higher than analysts were projecting.
Webb garnered the remaining 85% of the African American vote.
By the way, Allen? He finds nooses and confederate […]

I understand that…

I understand that pressure is growing on the Allen camp to just hurry up and concede defeat already. It’s probably the same with Burns, although most people are just ignoring him (probably because the media loves to talk about Allen– it’s a much more compelling story, what with the racism caught on tape, the dashed […]

Allen will reportedly conceed around Thursday evening or slightly later after the canvassing ends unless something totally unexpected happens. He won’t ask for a recount- again, so long as nothing crazy happens. Webb is the official winner according to the vote however.
Update: Drudge (unsourced claim) says… “Preliminary: Senate Ballots cast: 31,591,495 (D) 25,054,569 (R)… ” […]

Quelle surprise:

Triggering a post-election shake-up, Dennis Hastert announced Wednesday he will not run for leader of House Republicans when Democrats take control in January.

There is no recent precedent for Hastert’s situation. The last time control of the House changed hands, in 1994, the speaker at the time, Democratic Rep. Tom Foley of Washington, lost his […]

In Virginia, Democratic challenger Jim Webb leads Republican incumbent George Allen by 7,217 votes with 99% of the precinct reporting.
