Rep Joe Wilson (R-SC) is the *real* liar: Join me in donating to his opponent

Last night Republican Representative Joe Wilson (South Carolina) repeatedly heckled the president, calling him a “liar” and interrupting his speech to volley “you lie.” The House immediately started booing Wilson (not the president), and Obama paused to look in the direction of the crack to coolly respond “that’s not true.”

All eyes turned in the South Carolina Republican’s direction — including Obama’s, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s and Vice President Joe Biden’s.

Wilson, looking agitated, leaned forward and began tapping away at his BlackBerry, as if he were Googling up proof that the president had, in fact, lied.

“Shame on you!” shouted someone from the Democratic side. “Throw him out!” shouted someone else. First Lady Michelle Obama, seated behind and above Wilson, seemed to mouth a drawn-out “damn” at the scene unfolding before her.

Not long after the speech ended, Wilson issued an apology. “This evening I let my emotions get the best of me when listening to the President’s remarks regarding the coverage of illegal immigrants in the health care bill,” he said. “While I disagree with the President’s statement, my comments were inappropriate and regrettable. I extend sincere apologies to the President for this lack of civility.” Wilson also called the White House to apologize.

Weak staffer-written apology or not, Wilson’s red-state-town-hall-style lack of civility typifies the Republican approach to the country’s priorities right now. The president isn’t the liar– Rep Wilson and all the other GOPers who are spreading lies about health care reform are.

I just threw a few bucks into Rob Miller’s coffers. He’s the Iraq War veteran and the Democrat who’s going to beat the pants off of Wilson in 2010 when he’s up for re-election. He gave the Wilson the race of his life in 2008, and now it’s time for a rematch. Join me in donating here (over $50,000 and counting have been raised in the hours since Wilson’s disgraceful comments).

  1. Unfortunetely, someone has to have the strength and be a wee bit disrespectful and say a person is lying…. even if its the President of the United States.

  2. Who are all these people who say that the president is lying? It is very obvious that they have not taken the time to read the bill, or any number of sites that have debunked this silly rumor. It would appear that perhaps their tv knob is broken, or they cannot find the remote control, and their station is permanently tuned to Fox News. That is the only explanation I can come up with for these blatant lies from the right wing. It truly is a shame that all the right can comoe up with is lies and vitriol. They even ruined many chances for true discussion by being rabble rowsers (again, at the behest of the right wing and Fox) and stopping any real talk.

Is this how the right accomplishes things? If so, I hope Barack throws them to the wolves and comes up with a very good health plan. The Republicans are offering nothing but lies and hate, and I really hope more Americans are waking up to what is going on. It truly is a shame for this country to have so many misinformed people. Wow. It is truly astonishing to me what people will believe.

Mr. Kuehn, once again, please READ THE BILL rather than the talking points on Fox News and perhaps you too will be truly enlightened. May God forgive you for feeding into the right wing frenzy.

  3. Oh, and David- It’s Unfortunately. Perhaps you might want to type it out in Word and use their spell checker next time. I’m sure your comeback will be “ohhh you bleeding heart liberal attacking my sentences”

    LOL you guys kill me.

  4. Let me add one more thing– just in case you actually look at the bill, which I don’t expect out of you or anyone on the right-

Page 143, Section 246, of the House bill specificially states the ineligibility of illegals.

There you go, you don’t even have to read the whole thing! I told you right where to go. The bill is over 1000 pages, and I guarantee you don’t have the patience to read something that BIG.

  5. There you go, David :-)

  6. THIS WORLD IS READY TO MOVE ON. THEIR IS NO PLACE FOR RACISM ANYMORE. REPUBLICANS AMERICA WANTS SOMEONE IN CHARGE THAT REPRESENTS EVERYONE REGARDLESS OF THEIR ETHNICITY.
    GOD BLESS AMERICA,
    NO MORE HATE BUT LOVE!!!!!!!!!

  7. Bush and Obama both are liars. I don’t know why people cover for these crooks.

The Washington Times reports that Barack Obama has finally concluded that Joe Wilson was right, and that ObamaCare presents a big problem in handling illegal immigrants. Fortunately, the White House has found a solution to the problem.

No, they’re not going to beef up enforcement or require identification before receiving subsidies and services. They’re just going to offer amnesty so that no one’s illegal anymore.
