Fiji Water: Guilty of Greenwashing?

I saw this ad on the side of a bus stop here in Chicago the other day. It’s promoting Fiji Water, the company ships tons of normal water almost ten thousand miles for Americans to consume, using massive amounts of CO2. In environmental circles, Fiji Water is notorious for being one of the absolute worst […]

Is this really the work of bitter Clinton supporters, or is it Republicans trying to disrupt party unity?

Racial slurs targeting Barack Obama were discovered spray painted tonight on dozens of city vehicles in Orlando [Florida].
The vandalism happened in a City of Orlando parking lot on the corner of south and orange.
Phrases including “Obmama smokes crack” […]

John McCain: Not so good with the telephone

by Arlen Parsa

This is pretty funny:

Although John McCain was stumping in Ohio on Friday, his campaign arranged for him to talk by phone to leaders of B’nai B’rith International, a major Jewish group, who were meeting in Ottawa. Reporters were invited to dial in to the conference call at 3 p.m. to listen.
McCain soon came on the […]

Video- Unity in Unity, NH

Here’s some video (with some technical problems unfortunately) of today’s Obama-Clinton event in Unity, New Hampshire. The best line undoubtedly went to Hillary, when she said, to much applause:

“In the end, Senator McCain and President Bush are like two sides of the same coin. And it doesn’t amount to much change.”

Obama campaign manager David Plouffe uses the camera in his Macbook Pro to spell out the campaign’s strategy for the general election in a very candid and detailed way in this little video.

Sewage plant to be named after Bush?

Heh, heh, heh:

Reagan has his highways. Lincoln has his memorial. Washington has the capital, and a state, too. But President George W. Bush may soon be the sole president to have a memorial named after him that you can contribute to from the bathroom.
From the Department of Damned-With-Faint-Praise, a group going by the regal-sounding name […]

Scott is the new John

A month ago I asked:

So, is Scott McClellan the new John Dean? It sure seems like it. It’ll be fascinating to see how hard he is on the White House when he goes on the talk show circuit… And even more fascinating to see how the White House responds…

The answer is yes. He testified against […]

LAT/Bloomberg poll confirms Newsweek numbers

by Arlen Parsa

Okay, so on Friday, Newsweek published the results of its latest poll which said that Obama enjoyed 51% support as compared to McCain’s 36%. The Illinois’ senator’s lead was considered too implausibly large by most pundits however, and the poll was dismissed as an outlier.
Well, now the Lost Angeles Times/Bloomberg has a new poll out […]

The new version of Firefox is out: Firefox 3. If you’re already a Firefox user but haven’t upgraded yet, give it a shot. I just upgraded this morning and it’s been a great experience so far. A few things are different but mostly it’s just the addition of cool new features that are going to […]

Quote of the day

John McCain’s “deputy email campaign manager” wants you to know:

“You don’t necessarily have to use a computer to understand, you know, how it shapes the country… John McCain is aware of the Internet.”

P.S.- Check out this video from a few months ago in which the GOP candidates were interviewed about technology. McCain admits that he […]

Cindy McCain’s attack on Michelle Obama backfires

As you probably remember, conservatives made a big deal out of the fact that Michelle Obama said “What we have learned over this year is that hope is making a comeback. It is making a comeback. And let me tell you something — for the first time in my adult lifetime, I am really proud […]

Newsweek Poll: 55% of Americans consider themselves Democrats; 36% Republicans

Newsweek:

Barack finally has his bounce. For weeks many political experts and pollsters have been wondering why the race between Democrat Barack Obama and Republican John McCain had stayed so tight, even after the Illinois senator wrested the nomination from Hillary Clinton. With numbers consistently showing rock-bottom approval ratings for President Bush and a large majority […]

It’s possible Obama could raise as much as three times that which McCain will be able to raise this year. This chart says it all:

 # Eugene Robinson eviscerates McCain on the economy

 # McCain & Palin are lying about their crowd sizes

 # Vote caging by the McCain campaign?

 # More of the same lies: Palin links Iraq with 9/11
