| Obama raised upwards of $40M in March; Clinton raised perhaps half that

The Politico has some rough fundraising totals for the Obama campaign in March (which obviously proves my earlier speculation wrong).
Total raised in March: More than $40 million
Contributors in March: More than 442,000
First-time contributors in March: More than 218,000
Average contribution: $96
Total contributors to date: More than 1,276,000
This comes after TIME Magazine incorrectly reported that Obama had raised 30-something million during the month of March. Clinton, according to TIME, raised “close to $20 million” during the month, although the magazine acknowledged that that figure could not be independently verified with more than one source.
Update: The Clinton campaign is reportedly planning to put off disclosing what they raised in March until the filing deadline, a sure sign that her fundraising totals were lackluster.
