The Daily Background

I thought I’d take a few moments to address the technical problems the site had over the weekend (that are now thankfully over with).

As you probably knew if you’re a longtime reader, the site had been loading very slowly recently. This partially had to do with the traffic the site was receiving, partially to do with the number of spam bots trying to post spam comments on the site and partially to do with the fact that the site was hosted on a server with dozens of other websites because I am cheap.

So as a result I moved the site to a new ultra-fast server which, though more expensive, will provide super fast load times for everybody accessing it (maybe you’ve already noticed the difference). Hopefully ad revenues will cover this new expense.

The blogging software I use is called WordPress and I was having some problems transferring the database which contained all my old blog posts over to the new server, so that took a day or two to figure out. Other than that, everything is fine now.

The cool thing about the new server is, I’ll be able to host other websites on it as well. More on that later…

There are still a few minor things I have to fix and adjust on the new server, but things should work pretty well for anyone reading it. As always, let me know if you encounter any problems by leaving a comment on this post or shooting me an email.
