Okay, so check this out.

Individual donors to the Obama campaign during the entirety of 2007: about 480,000 people

Individual donors to the Obama campaign in January alone: about 256,000 people

Individual donors to the Obama campaign in February alone: about 730,000 people

Individual donors to the Obama campaign in March alone (so far): about 1,014,000 people

Note: Some donors from the first three months of this year also donated in 2007 but I haven’t counted them twice in the monthly tallies (for instance the tally in Feb started at zero, since I didn’t carry over the 256K from January).

So, what does this mean? Well for starters, it means that in the last month alone, Obama has gotten more than twice the number of unique donors that he (or anybody else) got during the entire year of 2007. Which is pretty amazing if you think about it. That’s some serious exponential growth.

As GOP strategist Patrick Ruffini says: “If you’re a Republican (like me), it’s time to grab the Rolaids again.”
