Hillary Clinton, December 30th, 2007:
CLINTON: I have a campaign that is poised and ready for the long term. We are competing everywhere through February 5th… So I’m in it for the long run. It’s not a very long run. It’ll be over by February 5th.
Clinton’s spokesman Jay Carson after a disappointing result on February 5th, 2008:
“[N]o one thought we would wrap it up tonight, as of six weeks ago… Everyone knew this race was going to be tight…”
(By the way, “six weeks ago” at that time would have been December 25th, five days before Hillary made her argument about being the inevitably nominee on Super Tuesday.)
