7:27 Obama says he wants to broadcast all health care negotiations on C-SPAN, live so that people know that his health care plan isn’t hijacked by special interests or drug companies or “a member of congress who’s carrying water for the drug companies.” Go transparency! (This, contrasted with Clinton’s original try at health care, which was completely done in secret, even from Congressional Dems…)

7:30 Hillary says that it might be too hard to put health care negotiations on C-SPAN. Why? This just comes off as protecting lobbyists and such.

7:32 Obama gets huge applause rebutting GOP’s traditional attacks on fiscal responsibility: “I don’t think the Republicans are going to be in a rela strong position to argue fiscal responsibility….” Also says Dems need to be clear about who really benefits from Bush’s tax cuts and who doesn’t…

7:34 Did George Costanza from Seinfeld just show up in the audience?

7:39 Obama gets huge applause denouncing economic scapegoating of immigrants. (Clinton follows up by taking a more conservative line, saying that brown people have taken away American jobs)

7:45 Wolf keeps on trying to bait a fight between the two of them on immigration. A bit tedious to watch. Obama on drivers licenses for undocumented workers: “People don’t come here to drive, they come here to work.” Says we won’t have to deal with that issue if we just have comprehensive immigration reform in the first place.

7:48 Snap. Clinton says she sponsored immigration reform in 2004 “before Barack was in the Senate.”

7:49 Both Clinton and Obama feel like they’re running against the Republicans tonight, rather than each other, Clinton particularly so.
