7:36 Sen. Obama walked in with Sen. Kennedy; Sen. Clinton walked in with Joe Biden (I think). Who will they be sitting with? Rep. Pelosi walked in with Sen. Sherrod Brown.
7:39The speech itself is said to last about 42 minutes, although with applause that’ll likely seem longer.
The First Lady will be sitting with one of the Virginia Tech survivors.
Spotted in the crowd: Sen. Larry Craig, looking awkward.
Sens Kennedy and McCaskill are sticking to Obama’s side like glue as he enters the receiving line, shaking hands with various Reps and Senators on the House floor. McCaskill is wearing a tapioca and brown pant suit and seems to be paying very close attention to keeping exact pace with Obama.
7:43 Overheard mic: Obama to unseen VIP in receiving line: “Except next time, tell me I’m supposed to wear my long-johns when I’m there! [Laughter]”
7:45 Sen Clinton enters chamber and receiving line with Sen. Biden. The two of them are sticking together tonight (he is even looking behind him seemingly to see if she’s there). She’s waring a bright red pant suit, no doubt in hopes of standing out in the reaction shots. She’s also wearing a purse, which looks oddly out of place.
7:49 Rep Boehner and Sen McConnell are hanging out with an unidentified member on the floor.
7:51 Whoa, this is the first time I’ve seen an overhead shot the House.

Of course normally views of both the Senate and House are restricted to fixed angles with government-owned cameras.
7:53 Pelosi bangs the gavel: The joint session will come to order…
