Hanover, NH, 4:57PM– I just got a robocall from somebody who identified themselves as Rob Werner, Chair of the Merrimack County Democrats. In the pre-recorded message, Werner endorsed John Edwards, citing a recent poll that he said showed Edwards as the only Democrat to win Ohio, a state that every president for years has won.

Intriguingly, and possibly in violation of Federal Election law, the robocall did not end with the standard boilerplate disclaiming who it was sponsored by. I just kept listening for the standard “This message was sponsored by John Edwards for President,” but it didn’t come. Does this mean it wasn’t sponsored by the Edwards campaign and was instead made by some third party group? Perhaps the Merrimack County Dems? Or did somebody just make a mistake? I’ve sent an email to the MCD and I’ll post an update if I get a response.
