I want to highlight two new & improved site features real quick

I wanted to highlight two features that I’ve been fooling around with tonight and refining. The first is the Asides feature, which sits at the top of the middle column on the homepage. It has mini-posts about a sentence in length which usually include a link. These posts aren’t transmitted through the site’s RSS feed, so the only way to access them is by actually visiting the homepage. New ones are usually added every few hours throughout the day. (This feature has been present for some time now, but I’ve just now improved the layout so it’ll display in Internet Explorer better.)

The other thing I wanted to highlight is something I added tonight– an improved end-of-post layout on both the main page and on individual post pages. I’ve added a Permalink button on the main page, as well as the ShareThis feature, which is available both on the homepage as well as on individual post pages. Clicking it will bring up a little AJAX palate which allows you to submit items to Digg, Reddit, Facebook, etc as well as email things (try clicking it, it’s really quite cool… you don’t actually have to submit anything, just give it a try).

As always, if you haven’t subscribed to the RSS feed, please give it a try (what’s RSS?). It’s full posts (none of that silly summary stuff), and it’ll allow you to make sure you never miss a post again.
