Ron Paul pledges to keep contribution from notorious racist leader

Wow, disgusting:

Republican presidential hopeful Ron Paul has received a $500 campaign donation from a white supremacist, and the Texas congressman doesn’t plan to return it, an aide said Wednesday.

Don Black, of West Palm Beach, recently made the donation, according to campaign filings. He runs a Web site called Stormfront with the motto, “White Pride World Wide.” The site welcomes postings to the “Stormfront White Nationalist Community.”

One of Paul’s spokespeople says “that’s $500 less that this guy has to do whatever it is that he does” as if the campaign were somehow doing the world a favor by keeping and using this bigot’s cash. It’s customary for campaigns to donate money from unsavory donors to charities or the like, rather than returning it, so most campaigns wouldn’t return it to the guy, they’d donate it instead… preferably to some anti-racism group or something to get good press out of the whole thing.

Paul is hardly wanting for money– his supporters are always bragging about how much money he’s raised (as if that actually translated into real support; it doesn’t)– so it’s not like he really needs that extra 500 dollars. I guess he doesn’t have a problem with taking money from racists and bigots, just like Hillary doesn’t have a problem taking money from corporate interests and the like.

Oh, and this only furthers the storyline about Paul attracting racists and bigots.

  1. So you are expecting a man running for public office to donate 500$ from someone he has never corresponded to or even heard about somewhere else or even give it back to him? The media tells you to do something, and you follow suit?

  2. […] “take America back” is by donating to Ron Paul’s presidential campaign. Paul has pledged to keep their donation: One of Paul’s spokespeople says “that’s $500 less that this guy has to do […]
