The above is a video of Noam Chomsky answering a question about these stupid 9/11 conspiracy theories (hat tip- Onegoodmove). I pretty much agree with Chomsky’s point of view on this, that these conspiracy theories are often based on junk science and serve only as red herrings or distractions which detrimentally preoccupy the left. Here’s another take, with similar sentiments:

Issues about the type of worthless junk science that some claim “backs up” 9/11 conspiracy theories aside, they’re pretty much just one logical inconsistency after another.

For instance, riddle me this, 9/11 truthers.

Sure, the Administration (wrongfully) used 9/11 to attack Iraq. But the Bush Administration orchestrated 9/11 in order to attack Iraq (and/or Iran for that matter), then why on earth did they choose 19 hijackers from countries that were our allies? 15 out of the 19 were from Saudi Arabia– arguably our biggest Arab ally in the middle east.

If the Administration was powerful enough to orchestrate such a massive plot and cover up in order to justify war against Iraq, then didn’t they make the hijackers, oh I don’t know, Iraqis? That would have been a heck of a lot more convenient, no? And it wouldn’t have fallen apart the way it did, would it?

  1. Yeah, 19 guys in a cave got NORAD to stand down and penetrated the best security system ever.
Get a clue! And get out of mommy’s basement!
