Is Joe Biden a racist or just an idiot?

This might be taken slightly out of context, but it still makes me groan:

[Biden] stumbled through a discourse on race and education, leaving the impression that he believes one reason that so many District of Columbia schools fail is the city’s high minority population. His campaign quickly issued a statement saying he meant to indicate that the disadvantages were based on economic status, not race.

After a lengthy critique of Bush administration education policies, Biden attempted to explain why some schools perform better than others — in Iowa, for instance, compared with the District. “There’s less than 1 percent of the population of Iowa that is African American. There is probably less than 4 or 5 percent that are minorities. What is in Washington? So look, it goes back to what you start off with, what you’re dealing with,” Biden said.

Kind of puts that ‘Barack Obama is surprisingly clean and articulate’ remark in perspective, doesn’t it?

  1. I thought recognizing that, even four decades after the Civil Rights Act, minorities still don’t start off on a level playing field was one of the reasons people like Biden become Democrats: to fix the inequities. Would it be so much work for you to look at his record after three decades in the Senate, motivated in the first place by the civil rights movement, before just parroting a MSM gotcha line?

The “surprisingly” bit is an addition of yours, too, and not what he said.

  2. Once again, another example of democrats being able to say anything they want and get away with it. It should be obvious (and it is to intelligent people) that Biden is a closet racist. No, he is not the David Duke type that will come out and say his true feelings, he will instead be the proverbial wolf in sheeps clothing. He will try to act like he is so concerned for minorites but the true feelings are hilighted whenever he lets his real thought slip out. Just as he did with his comments about Obama, and again now with his racial makeup of the schools comment, his true feelings and beliefs are exposed. And someone like him has less character than a David Duke. At least with Duke you know what is there and you can have enough sense to avoid him. But with Biden, you have a two faced liar who will say something to your face and then who knows what when you are not around. Where are Sharpton and Jackson now to denounce these comments? Or are they ok with a fellow democrat spouting off racial ideas? A comment from Biden like “….what you’re dealing with” is so racist and dispicable that he should be ostracized by his fellow democrats. Or do they feel the same way perhaps?

  3. The human brain is a complex organ, profoundly influenced by a number of factors. Blindly asserting that there are no differences in average brain functioning between races, w/o evidence, in the face of numerous obvious other physical differences, is arrogance and stupidity of the worst kind.

Dr. Watson is a world-renowed expert in genetics (also Arthur Jensen), and the rest of us know far less, if anything on the topic. Biden is unwittingly speaking reality. We’re going back to the days of Socrates (executed for his philosophical thinking) and Galileo (forced to recant his finding that Earth is not the center of the universe). Today’s legislated teaching of “Intelligent Design,” restrictions on stem-cell research, and contorted efforts to deny global warming are no more logical than criticizing Sen. Biden or Dr. Watson.

  4. Zorro, there’s a big difference. When someone says something off the wall and WTF, you can look at their record to put it in context. Sharpton and Jackson aren’t worried about what Biden says when they’re not around because he keeps saying it into microphones — but they also know that Biden consistently gets ratings of 100% or close to it from the NAACP every year. My own Congressman, John Lewis, who faced the firehoses and the dogs himself, got a 94% rating in 2005-2006 to Biden’s 100%. So maybe people are just willing to give the benefit of the doubt to someone who always stands with them when it counts!

  5. According to the US Dept of Education, what Biden said was 100% correct.

Why is telling the truth about our education system being interpreted as racist? This is insanity at it’s best.

  6. ill take a poop on joe!! right on his chest and obama too.
