Clinton aide caught in debate schedule lie

Um. Okay, pardon me, but this is a gigantic lie. Howard Wolfson, Hillary’s top campaign aide:

“When we were unable to say yes to the Fox debate…we made it clear that we were not going to do any debates outside of the DNC-sanctioned debates…. That was in fact our reason for not doing it.”

Oh really? That’s why Clinton said she wouldn’t attend the Fox News/CBC debate in April? The DNC has only sanctioned 6 debates, announced in early May. Here’s a list of non-DNC sanctioned debates Clinton has attended since announcing she wouldn’t attend the Fox News debate, which her aide wants us to believe was because she didn’t want to attend non-DNC debates:

- April 26th, Orangeburg, South Carolina (SCSU/MSNBC)
- June 3rd, Manchester, NH (Union Leader/CNN)
- June 28th, Washington DC (Howard University/PBS)
- July 12th, Detroit, MI (NAACP)
- August 4th, Chicago, IL (Yearly Kos)
- August 7th, Chicago, IL (AFL-CIO/MSNBC)
- August 9th, Los Angeles, CA (HRC/LOGO)
- September 9th, Coral Gables, FL (University of Miami/Univision)
- September 12th, cyberspace (Huffington Post/Yahoo!)
- September 20th, Davenport, IA (AARP/PBS)

The lack of DNC-sponsorship clearly isn’t what held her back from attending the FNC/CBC debate, since she’s had no trouble attending 10 non-DNC debates since announcing she wouldn’t attend the FNC one, and will probably attend a half dozen more before the year is up.

Update: followup here.
