O’Reilly shocked that Black people don’t shout “M-Fer, I want more iced tea”

Bill O’Reilly was recently shocked– shocked to learn that Black people aren’t actually all that different from White people, a fact discovered during a visit to a restaurant “run by blacks”:

During the September 19 edition of his nationally syndicated radio program, discussing his recent trip to have dinner with Rev. Al Sharpton at Sylvia’s, a famous restaurant in Harlem, Bill O’Reilly reported that he “had a great time, and all the people up there are tremendously respectful,” adding: “I couldn’t get over the fact that there was no difference between Sylvia’s restaurant and any other restaurant in New York City. I mean, it was exactly the same, even though it’s run by blacks, primarily black patronship.” Later, during a discussion with National Public Radio senior correspondent and Fox News contributor Juan Williams about the effect of rap on culture, O’Reilly asserted: “There wasn’t one person in Sylvia’s who was screaming, ‘M-Fer, I want more iced tea.’ You know, I mean, everybody was — it was like going into an Italian restaurant in an all-white suburb in the sense of people were sitting there, and they were ordering and having fun. And there wasn’t any kind of craziness at all.

dnA of Jack and Jill Politics offers, link above: “This is a man expressing literal shock at the realization, no, the mere possibility that black people are human beings.” Also, if you listen to him talk about how he went to dinner with Sharpton, it sounds an awful lot like Stephen Colbert’s occasional search for a token “black friend.”

  1. What on earth is going on in that man’s brain that this comes out of his mouth?

  2. What’s going on in his brain? My guess is: not much.

  3. He’s a sad, sad man. Mean spirited. Not nice. Come on now, this is getting real old. I am black, and go into black establishments all the time. Never seen or heard anything like what he was so so surprised to have not heard or seen. Fools come in all colors, shapes, races, height, background, cultures…. I think you know where i’m going with that.Stupid is just stupid. He is what he is and i’ll pray for his ignorant soul.

  4. In my town I have some restaurants in the ghetto that Bill would recognize with that same behavior….white run in fact.

  5. […] Go. Watch. Roland S. Martin on Bill O’Reilly’s recent disparaging comments and generalizations about African Americans.   Enjoy this item? Why not subscribe to Ye Olde RSS feed? […]
