So… Hillary announced on video. Barack announced before thousands of screaming fans (which was simulcast on the internet). And Fred Thompson?

He’ll be doing it via press release. Late on a Thursday afternoon.

That’s right, Fred Thompson is set to formally announce his candidacy for president today via a sheet of white paper. How… bland. Boring. Unremarkable. Conservative.

After a summer of “testing the waters,” former Sen. Fred Thompson, R-Tenn., is expected to announce his intention to run for president Thursday afternoon in a paper statement.

A statement to the media will be released around 4:30p EST, shortly after Political Director Randy Enwright’s conference call with supporters, his office confirmed.

Laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame.

Update: Worst announcement ever. Now NBC says Thompson will announce on September 6th. A quick calendar check revevals that that’s the day of the Fox/UNH debate in New Hampshire, the one that the Union Leader is bitching about.
