One thing’s for sure: he’s not getting the Tom DeLay treatment. A few items regarding GOP Senator Larry Craig’s possible resignation

- Norm Coleman (R-Minnesota) on his colleague Craig: “Senator Craig pled guilty to a crime involving conduct unbecoming a senator. He should resign.”

- John McCain (R-Arizona) on his colleague Craig: “My opinion is that when you plead guilty to a crime, then you shouldn’t serve. And that’s not a moral stand… but in this case, it’s clear that it was disgraceful.”

- Representative Pete Hoekstra (R-Michigan) has also called for Craig’s resignation, saying that he “represents the Republican party, and I believe he should step down as his conduct throughout this matter has been inappropriate for a U.S. Senator.”

(Update: Rep Jeff Miller, R-Florida, adds his name to the list of those calling for Craig to resign)

Craig’s office announced earlier today that he will be “temporarily” stepping down from all committees he’s a member of in the Senate, pending a Senate Ethics Committee investigation.

Also, via Marc, a list of Larry Craig’s excuses:

1. “Wide stance.”
2. “He said/he said.”
3. Roaming toilet paper.
4. He’s a commuter. (?)
5. “Witch hunt.”
6. “Jiminy!”
7. “I am not gay. I never have been gay.”
8. “I am not gay. I love my wife.”
