Romney tries to distance himself from Sen. Larry Craig
by Arlen Parsa
Earlier, I told you about how Mitt Romney’s campaign was trying to distance themselves from GOP Senator Larry Craig (Idaho), who it was revealed Monday, had plead guilty to lewd behavior in a public bathroom. I noted: “Mitt Romney’s campaign quickly took down a video of Larry Craig endorsing him from their YouTube account.” Well, a YouTube user has rescued said video (see below), and uploaded it to their own account. Well done.
“He has very strong family values.” Heh, heh, heh. A bit more on the Romney-Craig connection from Jonathan Martin of The Politico:
In February, the Romney campaign announced that Craig and Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) would serve as co-Senate liaisons for the effort…Craig has lobbied uncommitted senators on behalf of his candidate, helped organize meetings between Romney and colleagues of his and joined other members in recording pro-Romney video clips for the former governor’s website.
Craig resigned his post today, said Romney communications director Matt Rhoades.
“Senator Craig has stepped down from his role with the campaign,” Rhoades said. “He did not want to be a distraction and we accept his decision.”
