The Daily Background

Oh, lovely. Now Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (up for re-election in 2008) has been caught posing with a sign that says “Obama, Osama, and Chelsea’s moma say cut and run.” This is, of course, a repeat of the incident where Mitt Romney was caught posing with a very similar sign, which also grouped terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden with the top Democratic presidential candidates.

Of course, Graham has the same defense that Romney had- he was at a crowded campaign event (apparently a McCain campaign event, judging by the other sign he’s holding), and somebody handed him a sign to pose with, and he didn’t read it, just held it up. This sounds to me like a pretty bogus excuse, but it’s one that deserves to be tested out. Do Republican senators just hold up any old sign you hand them, without reading it? Somebody should offer them a sign that says “Equal rights are not special rights” or “Impeach Gonzales” etc, and see if they are just as “careless” about what they endorse by posing with.
