Clinton uses GOP attack; Doesn’t think Obama should “talk about” killing bin Laden
by Arlen Parsa
Oh. My. God. Clinton is saying Obama is unpresidential and inexperienced and careless now because he said he won’t drop nuclear bombs on people, and said that he wants to hunt down terrorist. That’s literally what she’s arguing. This is absolutely ridiculous. She’s taking the Republican line on this- about not talking about anti-terror tactics because they supposedly jeopardize national security or whatever, even though Obama wasn’t talking specifics. Get a load of this:
“I don’t believe that any president should make any blanket statements with respect to the use or nonuse of nuclear weapons.”
[…]
“If we have actionable intelligence about high-value terrorist targets and President Musharraf will not act, we will,” Obama said.Clinton did not take issue with that as an option, but suggested Obama should not have been delivering such messages publicly.
“I am concerned about talking about it,” she said. “I think everyone agrees that our goal should be to capture or kill bin Laden and his lieutenants but how we do it should not be telegraphed and discussed for obvious reasons.”
Apparently talking about killing bin Laden is a bad thing. What the hell? All he said was that Pakistan needs to get more serious, and that if he were president, he’d cooperate with them more but also make sure that they have to get serious. He isn’t ttalking about any specifics at all. My God, what version of reality is Senator Clinton living in? Did she even read Obama’s speech? What the hell did he say that jeopardized national security by giving specifics away? The only explanation I can come up with is that Clinton’s camp is just on the attack now, and is attacking anything they can– attacking for attacking’s sake– even if their course of attack doesn’t make sense.
And yet…
Clinton didn’t seem to have any problem “talking about” the subject on Wednesday, when interviewed on American Urban Radio News Network.
“I’ve long believed that we needed tougher, smarter action against terrorists by deploying more troops to Afghanistan, and if we had actionable intelligence that Osama bin Laden or other high-value targets were in Pakistan I would ensure that they were targeted and killed or captured,” she said.
