Just so there’s no confusion about how a hypothetical impeachment proceeding against Alberto Gonzales would work (even though we’re not even close to that point), here’s a brief outline in light of the resolution that will be introduced in the House on Tuesday.
1. The House Judiciary Committee would vote on a resolution to refer articles […]

The internet is not a big truck. But the FBI may need a big truck, depending on what they find at Senator Ted Stevens’ house
Federal law enforcement agents are currently searching the Girdwood home of Alaska U.S. Sen. Ted Stevens, an FBI agent said. ‘All I can say is that agents from the FBI […]

NBC/MSNBC are reporting that the House of Representatives will see the introduction of an resolution to introduce a resolution to impeach Attorney General Gonzales. The brief 60 word resolution basically calls on the House Judiciary Committee to hold a vote on impeachment proceedings.
A group of House Democrats will introduce a resolution calling on the Judiciary […]

This is a bit ironic. Barack Obama, who is widely considered the strongest candidate among young people, and certainly young people online (such as on Facebook and MySpace), and second favorite of the Netroots (after Edwards, although this is changing slightly), has actually spent the least money of all the major campaigns online. Reports the […]

Uh, okay, this strikes me as just a teeny bit too transparent in the pandering department:
Democratic presidential hopeful Bill Richardson says he would give higher homeland security funding considerations to states like Iowa because of the importance of food safety, agriculture and transportation to the nation’s well being.
Richardson said anti-terrorism funding should be risk-based, and […]

Ugh. According to several reports, a decision on the Dow Jones/WSJ/NewsCorp/Murdoch bid is set for sometime either today or very very soon, imminent to be sure. And several items like this one don’t look good.
Members of the Bancroft family, which has controlled Dow Jones & Co. for more than a century, appeared close to accepting […]

Well, this is certainly interesting. In their editorial Sunday, calling for Gonzales to be investigated by a special counsel or impeached, The New York Times slips in this line: “Unwilling to accept that conclusion, Vice President Dick Cheney sent Mr. Gonzales and another official to Mr. Ashcroft’s hospital room to get him to approve the […]

As I have noted previously, Gonzales has been given one week by Senate Judiciary Committee Pat Leahy to revise his testimony to correct any errors:
The top Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee is advising — for now — against a perjury investigation of Attorney General Alberto Gonzales over his apparent misstatements about warrantless spying.
[…]
Gonzales told […]

Attorney General Alberto Gonzales has been lying to Congress since even before he was an Attorney General. Flashback time:
When Alberto R. Gonzales was asked during his January 2005 confirmation hearing whether the Bush administration would ever allow wiretapping of U.S. citizens without warrants, he initially dismissed the query as a “hypothetical situation.”
But when Sen. Russell […]

The quote of the day today goes to Congressman Chris Shays (R-CT), who said, when asked about Attorney General Alberto Gonzales:
“He doesn’t have much credibility. And he would do us all a favor if he stepped down and allowed the president to select someone else.”

Along with I assume a lot of other people, this story appeared on my political radar this morning:
Mayor Michael Bloomberg speaks his mind and that is a big part of his cachet in anything-goes New York.
But a sexual harassment lawsuit he settled in 2000 and other racy comments over the years show […]

The other day I wrote about the astounding profits that Shell oil reported making over the last quarter. Their profits, while not breaking the previous record by ExxonMobil, was still absurdly high, at a profit of $3 million every hour. Well, now another huge oil corporation, Chevron, has posted their profits for the last quarter, […]

Oh, this is priceless. Instead of going the way that the American public wants, and proposing universal health care plans like Democrats are, Mitt Romney wants us to copy what Hezbollah has done:
… [Romney] thinks Hezbollah’s work establishing health clinics and schools in southern Lebanon hold important lessons for the United States.
“Did you notice in […]
