The Daily Background

Thanks to Jordy for sending in this video. In it, Lynn Samuels, a personality from Sirius Left (which by the way needs to be renamed) discusses the matter of age-appropriate sex ed for children, or at least tries to discuss it, with Ann Coulter on Fox News. The context is of course this whole story about Obama saying at a Planned Parenthood conference that he supported age appropriate science-based sex education, which the right wing is vehemently opposed to.

I really don’t have much to say about this, partially because it’s so obvious why Ann is wrong. But I will point out two things. First, Coulter is totally incorrect when she says that children have some inherent knowledge of what “good touching” is, versus “bad touching.” Saying this demonstrates a complete lack of understanding of child abuse; children often do not realize that they’re being abused until years later.

And the other thing I just want to point out is that Coulter resorts to saying that “this is why liberals can’t get elected to important positions.” I guess by her definition of “important,” the House of Representatives isn’t a very important place, nor is the Senate. Coulter herself has called Pelosi a liberal, and the last time I checked, that particular “liberal” happens to be one of the most important elected officials outside of the White House, being, you know, 2 heart beats away from the presidency and all. I guess that’s just not important enough for Annie the Ice Queen though.
