Giuliani is acting “shocked,” and I’m sure he’s at least surprised, that his no-good South Carolina state chairman is a actually a cocaine dealer (he was indicted back in mid-June):

In his first campaign visit to South Carolina since his state chairman resigned amid cocaine charges, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani said Friday he was “shocked” when he learned of the news.

“It is a terrible thing when something like that happens to someone that is going to have to answer to it, but it is one of those things that is highly personal and all you can do is pray and hope that his rehabilitation works out and whatever debt to society he pays, he will be able to put it behind him,” Giuliani said of his former South Carolina chairman, Thomas Ravenel, while campaigning in Myrtle Beach.

Here’s my question though. When is Giuliani going to start acting surprised “shocked” that the coke dealer’s no-good father, Giuliani’s new South Carolina co-chair, is a racist? Among the overwhelming evidence that Ravnel’s father is a tremendous bigot:

1. Ravenel has refereed to the NAACP as the “National Association for Retarded People” (later when taking back what he said, he complained “I made a rhetorical slip, and they want to lynch me for it”).

2. Ravenel has refereed to African American members of Congress in general as “venomous” and has criticized White colleagues as running on “black time,” which he said meant they were frequently late

3. Ravenel has headlined events for and been associated with pro-secesssion and White Supremacist hate groups whose stated purpose is to “oppose all efforts to mix the races of mankind, to promote non-white races over the European-American people through so-called ‘affirmative action’ and similar measures, to destroy or denigrate the European-American heritage, including the heritage of the Southern people, and to force the integration of the races.”
