Today’s quote of the day goes to Republican White House hopeful Fred Thompson, who recently said, in reference to Cuban immigrants:
“I don’t imagine they’re coming here to bring greetings from Castro. We’re living in the era of the suitcase bomb.”
What alternate reality do these people live in, that they seriously believe that Cuban immigrants, as a whole, are coming to the United States with suitcase bombs? Or that Cuba is stupid enough to try and attack the United States? Perhaps somebody should alert Thompson that JFK is no longer president, the year is no longer 1962, and with the Soviet Union gone, Cuba would have to be insane to attack its northern neighbor. After all, the current Administration has invaded countries for a hell of a lot less than actually attacking us.
