AP:

The car bomb scare in London and the attack Saturday at the Glasgow airport underscore the need for a strong immigration policy in the United States, Republican presidential hopeful Rudy Giuliani said Saturday.

Run that by me again. What does the apparent failed terror attacks in the UK have to do with illegal immigrants in the United States? This is classic conflation of two things that do not otherwise have to do with one another. A terrorist attack is a terrorist attack. Illegal immigrants are illegal immigrants. Illegal immigrants are not terrorists. None of the 9/11 hijackers snuck across our southern border. And Giuliani knows that nobody knows whether the perpetrators in Britain are illegal immigrants or not.

Of course, Giuliani isn’t the only person doing this. Just ask Fred Thompson.
