On the Wednesday, June 13th edition of The Colbert Report, host Stephen Colbert asked guest Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul to raise his hand and put his hand down if he would not abolish a program, treaty or agency on the list in front of him. Representative Paul did not put his hand down during the segment, indicating he would choose to dismantle each of the following:

The Department of Education
The Department of Homeland Security
The Department of Energy
The Internal Revenue Service
The Federal Emergency Management Agency
The United Nations
NATO
The Interstate Commerce Commission
NAFTA
The World Trade Organization
UNICEF

  1. The fact that Dr. Paul wants to cut back on government spending is a testament to his strong character. he wants to limit the power of government and take away people’s dependency. I was very disgusted with politics and politicians until I found Dr. Paul. Now I find myself donating money and time to help out.

There is a great quote that people need to remember:

When the government fears the people, its liberty
When the people fear the government, its tyranny

    Ron Paul in ‘08

  2. And about time someone was willing to do it, too. Most of them should be gone. The only ones I’m not so sure about are NATO and UNICEF. To his credit he wasn’t so sure about UNICEF either.

  3. Get rid of them all except the United Nations. Then again, President Paul wouldn’t be able to “get rid” of the international organizations, anyway.
