| Cheering Albanians mob Bush, Secret Service drags him out of crowd

WSJ’s Washington Wire puts this crazy phenomenon of Albanians loving President Bush that I wrote about yesterday in perspective with this headline “Former Stalinists Go Bonkers for Bush.†More:
Albania, once the most Stalinist country in Eastern Europe, has a new hero these days: President Bush. Making the first visit of a sitting U.S. president to the tiny Balkan country, Bush received a gushing welcome from its center-right Prime Minister, Sali Berisha, and later was mobbed by thousands of ordinary Albanians at an event celebrating U.S. assistance for the fledgling democracy.

At one point as he shook hands along a rope line, he was mobbed by the crowd. Hands were grabbing both his arms almost up to the shoulders, and even grabbing at his head. The crowd shouted “Bush-y, Bush-y,†whistling, cheering and clapping, as Secret Service agents pulled the president from behind, holding onto his waist. It was extraordinary even by the standards of eastern Europe, where the Bush administration remains enormously popular for its steady support in the face of growing Russian aggressiveness. Inside the bakery, Bush was presented with a white-iced cake decorated with an American flag.
That’s nuts. As I said before, these people are either grossly ignorant or there’s something in their water.

Bush was then led back to his motorcade.
Update: See the following video from Albanian television, particularly around about three quarters in, where the Secret Service decides he’s had enough of the crowd and pulls him back to the motorcade.

I mean, if you don’t wish to be hanged for starting an illegal, aggressive war, you’re going to have to hide.
They love him for CLINTON’S intervention in the Kosovo War, which was one of the only situations I can think of where the US led a successful military intervention with no ulterior motive.
This, by the way, was an intervention that more Democrats than Republicans supported.
Think again; today terrorist KLA is in power in Kosovo.
Nikola: Stop the pro-Serbian/Russian propaganda here. Making up bold statements and lies doesn’t work any more. You need facts! The fact is that Kosova is already a democratic state, with a democratically elected government, parliament and it’s own army trained and supervised by NATO. KLA was never a terrorist army, but it was built by the west to protect the innocent civilians that were being executed and thrown in Nazi-style mass graves by the Serbian Army under the Serbian Communist regime. KLA ceased to exsist 10 June 1999 when Kosovo was liberated by NATO. All Albanians will forever be grateful for the help that USA gave them during the Kosovo War. The literally saved the lives of millions of people. What Bus experienced today in Albania is a symbol of the respect and deep gratitude that the Albanians show towards USA, not just a particular President.
If I were a former hardcore Soviet, I’d probably be cheering for him too. He’s doing more damage to America and the American reputation around the world than a thousand Russians silo nukes could ever do. For real. Like Gorbachev detonated the Soviet Union from the inside from the top, and blew its system and its credibility and worldwide respect away, so too George W. Bush is doing to America. The economy is going to collapse under this absolutely absurd perpetual military spending, China is going to foreclose on the debt, and we’re all going to be in bread lines wanting to lynch anyone at all who resembles an old school corrupt as hell sell out politician from the ‘old times’.

Wtf was that same KLA doing in Macedonia? Protecting it’s rights? What is it doing right now, when crime on the balkans has risen so rapidly the past years.
KLA is Albanian mafia just as the Sicilian and it has America’s support.
Albania is a small Mediterranean country, with a very old and rich history. Most people have no clue in geography. Of course the communists in Albania isolated their country for a good while.
What is unique about them, is that they still maintain certain (great) old customs towards the guest! Try to go and visit. You will have to see for yourself to understand it! Meantime, nothing surprising here, the US is the only real supporter for Kosovo’s independence. The Europeans and Russia consistently have screwed them when it come to the national issue. Instead, the US consistently backed them up!
As for the religion of the Albanians….they really are AGNOSTIC!!!
OK? It is in their upbringing, in their culture! Of course 500 years of Turkish invasion has left certain east relics over there. They are portrayed as Islamic or religious… whatever….. you would have to know them to understand it. Albania holds some of the most genuine treasures in Europe still to be discovered in the west.

Albania has been on the mend since the mid-90s. It has been up and down but their economy and standard of living is better now that at any time in their history- mostly due to being left alone by outside powers.
Albania is 70% Islamic, 30% Christian and is one of the very few places on the planet where they get along. Albanian’s have been strong supporters of the Global War on Terror and has troops in Iraq and Afghanistan.
During the communist years, Albania was ruled by terror. The communist exerted complete control by soldiers and secret police. If that didn’t work, they were controled by starvation. Given their history, Maybe the Albanian X-Stalinist know something that today’s Marxist in the democratic party do not.

The CIA called the KLA (albanians living in Kosovo) the ‘largest and best armed (US) terrorist group in the world. Hamas and Hezbollah are miniscule next to them.
This territory was bombed because we now have Camp Bondsteel there, the largest US base since Vietnam. Right at a strategic crosspoint.
Of course, since 60-90% of heroin in europe is controlled by the same mobsters as before but now they have carte blanche the

WMD’s lies didnt just appear in 2003. They were used before and 1999 was the perfect example.
There was the buildup, where the US is trying to bomb but have to make it look legit. In Iraq it was inspections, in Kosovo it was the bogus negotiations at Ramboulet (sp) where US secretary of states where have croissants with wanted terrorists who appeared in INTERPOL’s top 10 lists. The conditions were of course intentionally unacceptable so as to justify the bombing that was planned 12 months before that (just like we did with Iraq and are now doing with Iran) and as soon as we started to bomb for three straight months, the official reason became moot.
Read something else but CNN to find out that you are totally deluded.
Kosovo was an illegal war, started under false pretenses and which like Iraq has given the US want they wanted.
There is NO difference between both.
Lies were used throughout by the NATO/US forces and were repeated by the media word for word.
Within a few years, all the lies were forgotten, all investigation came up empty. Oops, we bad!
Then in 2004, we saw the same who were terrorists in 1998 came to the Democratic convention pay their respects, just like the mob, for their help. Imagine if Bin Laden came to do the same in 2012?
As for the Albanian propaganda, you can tell them by how they rename Kosovo (which is some kind of bird) to Kosova.
Look back at the NY Times of the 1980’s, they often covered the 2 decades of terrorism by Albanians which chased one million people from their homes and with the US forces help we helped clear out the last 3-400,000).
As a christian, I know that Kosovo has the most religious monuments, churches and monasteries per square mile than any place on earth, many dating back a millenia. You can also find in ethnic makeup of that land before WW2 and after when the communists refused the evicted landowners to return to land that the Nazis and their albanian collaborators took.
You can spout BS all you want but if you go to Zmag, Antiwar.com, globalresearch.ca and other news sites you will see that the reality is different what mainstream media (hey c.Amanpour made her career on BS, so sayeth Scott Taylor, a canuck jarhead who is also their finest military reporters).

Most of you can’t understand Albanians, unless you have lived with them, and experienced their culture. It’s truly a phenomenon. I see that most people here seem not to like the fact that Bush could be liked anywhere in this world. Albanians idolize America not only for what it has done for them, in whatever scale, but foremost, it has stemmed Greco-Slavo influence in the country. Serbs and Macedonians seem to be bitter because a superpower sided with the minority in their countries. Never mind you that it was Serbia , and the slavic majority in Macedonia to some extent, who through its xenophobia and committal of the worst massacres in Europe since WWII that should be truly concerned with their own morality and not worry about the giddiness of Albanians with the US. President Bush represents the USA - he is our leader. We criticize him at home as is our right to do so if and when we do not agree with his policies. What worries me is the fact that no one in the US seems to honor our presidents anymore. Why should it be Albanians who show us that the post of the US presidency should be respected? It makes no sense. At least some people in the world like us.
