So I take it DeLay isn’t a fan of Gingrich. And, get this, he has the sheer audacity to criticize Gingrich’s affair despite having admitted to having one himself:
In the book, he freely confesses to committing adultery. “I had put my needs first,†he told me. “I was on the throne, not God. I had […]

Here’s another photo from the Obama event I attended yesterday. They say close to 6,000 people showed up (Hanover, the town is slightly less than 11,000 people). The photo is from the Obama campaign Flickr account.

Yesterday I wrote about the corruption in the US Citizenship and Immigration Services Agency (formerly known as Immigration and Naturalization), specifically how their budget is made up of fees paid by peopple who want to immigrate to the US– and how that increases the temptation to unfairly raise fees in order to get more funding. […]

I feel no need to reserve judgement when I say that whoever did this is a complete asshole:
Vandals burned dozens of small American flags that decorated veterans’ graves for Memorial Day and replaced many of them with hand-drawn swastikas, authorities said Monday.
Forty-six flag standards were found empty and another 33 flags were in charred tatters […]

The Post has an interesting article Tuesday about how the Secret Service is really being taxed with a heavy load this campaign season already, with increases and budget and personnel not enough to balance the increase in work load. Apparently they’ve had to move people off case work (like anti-counterfeiting measures etc) and into people’s […]

Although former Senate Majority Leader Billl Frist (R-TN) was floated as a replacement for the recently-resigned Paul Wolfowitz, Frist has how apparently pre-emptively said he doesn’t want the job so the White House is back to looking for somebody. AP:
Former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist has withdrawn his name from consideration for World Bank […]

On the far left is a photograph of a greenland glacier taken in 1985. In the middle is a photograph of the same glacier pictured in 2002, and on the far right is the same glacier pictured in 2005. As you can see, much of the snow is gone from 1985 to 2002, and the […]

So apparently the ultra-conservative discussion website Free Republic is banning all supporters of Rudy Giuliani because of ideological disagreements. Fine, let them do their little purge. Getting rid of fellow conservatives will only weaken them. Funny, I can’t imagine this happening at a liberal website like Daily Kos. Choice quote from the New York Observer:
Why […]

The Washington Post has an article today about the inefficiencies and bureaucrat at the US Citizenship and Immigration Services Agency (formerly known as the Immigration and Naturalization Service):
Last June, U.S. immigration officials were presented a plan that supporters said could help slash waiting times for green cards from nearly three years to three months and […]

Does Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair General Peter Pace even know how many Americans have died in Iraq? This is shocking, and on Memorial day no less:
“When you take a look at the life of a nation and all that’s required to keep us free, we had more than 3,000 Americans murdered on 11 September, […]

It’s about 78 degrees outside and sunny today, so the crowd was pretty hot. There seemed to be several thousand people there, and Hanover is a pretty small town. I had heard beforehand that there might be as many as 5,000 people expected to attend, although I don’t know if that’s right or not. The Obama campaign is just saying the rather vague “thousands” at the moment. Read on for more…
