| Whose torture techniques did the Administration steal?

In the past couple days, a couple of stories have come out that suggest the Bush Adminstration borrowed harsh “interrogation” methods from other places. Which leaves me with the question: did they steal torture techniques from Soviet Russia, or Nazi Germany? Or maybe both?
