The Daily Background

Obviously, Fred Thompson is having an incredible media day, and I really see no reason to add to it by writing much of anything about him. For some reason though, I have trouble taking him seriously as a candidate. He seems to me as just sort of a conservative/actor, rather than a conservative Republican politician. Sort of like a politics enthusiast, rather than an actual politician. I dunno, maybe that’ll change when he starts going around the country giving speeches that don’t cost 300 bucks and are closed media.

His entrance just represents the overwhelming crappy feeling that Republicans have about their presidential field… if they were satisfied with the candidates they already have (and how many of them are there now?) there wouldn’t be people clamoring for him to enter it. He’s also no savior- people who don’t know much about him but are dissatisfied with the current candidates are just projecting their hopes and wishes on him. His honeymoon will probably be over soon enough.

Also, the man looks like a lizard. And there’s talk about him being lazy as hell. I’m just saying…
