What the hell is Ron Paul talking about?!

I think everybody kind of missed this quote… Ron Paul on May 20th:

“The Republican tradition is always to win on the peace position, Democrats have always won, or, or, got us into war.”

I think I speak for all of us when I saw “WTF?”

Remind me Congressman Paul, who got us into Iraq the first time? And who got us into Iraq the second time? And who got us into Panama, Grenada, Lebanon, involved in Chile, Nicaragua, and kept us in Vietnam until (Democratically-controlled) Congress effectively ended it? True, Nixon ran promising to get the country out of Vietnam, but then turned around and escalated things tenfold.

  1. Your missing the point, actually there’s more than one point:
Republicans have generally been the party that gets our country out of wars: Eisenhower - Korea and Nixon - Vietnam. With the exception of the Bushies, large scale engagements have been initiated by Democratic administrations. (Wilson, FDR, Kennedy, Clinton) But, more importantly, Paul’s main point is that Republican’s usually ran and won elections based on peace and the promise to stay out of war or end a war. In fact, as a general rule running on a peace ticket has been the best way to win an election for any party, though often proving to be empty promises. In 2000 Bush won on such a promise.

s were getting concerned with the Clinton
