“I’ll be darned if I’m going to concede that Democrats care more about poor people than we do.”
– Rudy Giuliani, after slamming Democrats’ plan to offer healthcare for all Americans, regardless of economic status.
Remind me how not wanting to give all Americans health insurance is caring more about the poor than wanting to give all […]

Tony Snow today, on links between Iraq and al Qaeda:
“The fact is the president made it clear before the State of the Union in 2002 that there was no link between Saddam Hussein and September 11. So I’m afraid what’s happened there is that George Tenet may have been referring to something that has been […]

Two Democrats were released from the hospital today, after injuries earlier this year and in 2006.
Governor Jon Corzine was released from a New Jersey hospital after a car crash left him critically injured on April 12th, while in South Dakota, Senator Tim Johnson was released from a hospital after his December 13th brain hemorrhage.
Despite their release, both will recover further with their families at home, and questions remain about when either of them will return to work.

My buddy Jason Leopold of Truthout got George Tenet’s new book “At The Center of The Storm” over the weekend and reports on Tenet’s side of the 16 words/yellocake/Niger story:

Slightly unclear reports are suggesting that there has been or is an ongoing shooting in Kansas City, Missouri, with at least two people dead. It’s not certain whether or not the shooter is in police custody. CNN is reporting that the shooter is among the dead.
Side note: it’s being said that the shooter may have […]

Congressman John Murtha, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, said today on CBS’ Face The Nation that he has heard rumors from military sources that the Pentagon is planning to extend the tours of duty for US soldiers in Iraq to 18 months– well beyond the current maximum tour length of 12 months.
Murtha, normally a conservative Democrat, is a former Marine and widely considered the member of Congress with the closest connections to the military.

Sunday on CNN’s “Reliable Sources,” host Howard Kurtz asked guests Chris Cillizza of the Washington Post and Karen Timulty of TIME Magazine about John McCain’s much-talked-about appearance on The Daily Show last week. At one point, Kurtz noted that Stewart seemed to be more of a journalist than some journalists, at one point noting that “most candidates on news shows don’t get challenged like that.”

There seems to be an urge in the blogosphere to boost the claims of George Tenet, the former CIA director who has a new book out which criticizes the Administration’s run-up to war with Iraq. But let’s not forget who this man is, and what he still believes in.

Rasmussen, a respected political polling firm issued the following report, this week:
