Majority of Americans disagree with White House’s assertion that Dems are ‘micromanaging’ Iraq

Here’s a headline for you:

According to Cheney, the House of Representatives doesn’t “support the troops” because they voted in favor of a binding resolution to withdraw them from Iraq by August 31st, 2008. Here’s the thing. Turns out the majority of Americans disagree with the Vice President.
According to a March 14-15 Newsweek poll, when respondents were asked whether or not they favored “congressional legislation that would require the withdrawal of U.S. troops from Iraq by the fall of 2008,” (which is exactly what the House just passed), nearly 60% said they favored it.
Further, when a CNN poll earlier this month asked Americans “Who do you think should be primarily responsible for setting U.S. policy in Iraq: Congress or the President?” a plurality (47%) thought Congress should take the lead, not the President. Only 33% of Americans thought Bush should continue to be in charge of US Iraq policy.
So much for Republican talking points accusing Nancy Pelosi of “wanting to be a general” and “micromanaging the war.”
