Well, we’re right around the fourth anniversary of the war in Iraq. My, how times change. Shortly after the invasion in 2003, about 70% of Americans though the situation was going well, versus less than 30% who disagreed. Now about 70% of Americans feel the situation in Iraq is going badly, versus less than 30% who disagree. I thought I’d make a chart (above) showing how almost exactly reversed the public opinion is about the situation in Iraq versus how it was in 2003.
NYT’s The Caucus blog also writes that “About nine months after the start of the war, 64 percent told The Times and CBS News that the United States did the right thing in taking military action against Iraq while 28 percent said the United States should have stayed out.
“In the latest poll, only 39 percent said it was the right thing and 56 percent said the United States should have stayed out.”
