Which one of these will become the First Pet(s) on January 20th, 2007?

Also, an addendum: Obama has been promising his daughters a dog forever. He mentioned it in Audacity of Hope a couple of times and I think I’ve heard him mention it in his stump speech. The Salt Lake Trib:

Some lucky pet may even still be hiding out at the pound, awaiting time in the spotlight.

Illinois Sen. Barack Obama’s kids brokered a deal with him so plans for a family addition are in the works.

The kids said, “you can run for president but we get a dog,” wife Michelle Obama said recently on CBS’s “60 Minutes.”

“They’ve been angling for this dog for a long time,” added Barack Obama.
Touting a family pet seems to warm the hearts of the majority of Americans. Some 60 percent of all households in the United States have a pet, according to the American Veterinary Medical Association. Of those, there are some 60 million pet dogs and 70 million pet cats, the group says.

First pets, in many ways, are no longer just a sideshow with presidents; they have taken on their own prominent personas. This last holiday season, the White House produced “Barney’s Holiday Extravaganza” movie feature, and the dog even has his own part of the administration’s Web site.

Oh god, I don’t know what I’m going to do if I have to sit through a poorly produced holiday video of McCain’s three turtles, three parakeets, ferret, dogs, cat and 13 salt water fish wishing everyone a Merry Christmas. Hat tip, Political Insider.
