President Bush: Congress should fork over Iraq funds “with no strings attached”
by Arlen Parsa
“My hope, of course, is that Congress provides the funding necessary for the combat troops to be able to do their job — without any strings attached.”
That was President Bush, all the way from Columbia, Sunday, talking about how he hoped that Congress would continue to fork over massive sums of money with no oversight/accountability/benchmarks/measure of progress of any kind for Iraq. The most recent White House funding request? An extra 100 Billion dollar supplemental, plus an extra extra3.2 billion in emergency funds. This, right after the President announced he’s “surging” another 8,000 troops to the middle east, 4,700 of which are going to Iraq in addition to the 21,500 he initially ordered.
No strings attatched. Just trust him. Honestly, what in his record would make people trust him at this point? What about this war can he point to and say “see, aren’t you glad you trusted me?”
