Action Item: Contact 36 newspapers and ask them to drop Coulter’s column
by Arlen Parsa
Here’s a real quick and simple action item. The pressure is growing on a group of several dozen newspapers to drop Ann Coulter’s syndicated column. Here’s a list of the email addresses of editors whose newspapers still carry Ms Coulter’s column, in a format that can be easily pasted into a BCC field.

Emails supplied by MediaMatters. Five newspapers have so far dropped Coulter’s column out of a combination of their own disgust, and readers’ pressure. Here’s the sample letter that I sent the list of editors above:
Hello,
As you probably know by now, one of your syndicated columnists, Ann Coulter, recently made derogatory statements towards a Presidential candidate in order to get some laughs at a recent conference. Ms Coulter called John Edwards, a married father of 4 children (one of whom is no longer living) a “faggot.”
Ms Coulter has a history of calling prominent Democratic politicians “faggots” and insinuating they are gay. Several incidents in the past have involved her labeling President Clinton a “latent homosexual,” Senator Clinton a “lesbian,” and former Vice President Al Gore a “total fag.”
When Coulter was asked about her remarks recently she said that the term “faggot” is not offensive to gay and lesbian Americans. This is far from the truth. “Faggot” is a hate-laced epithet, and the idea that Ms Coulter would call somebody a “faggot” for laughs is disgusting.
Sadly, Americans have been beaten literally to death– because somebody thought they were “faggots.”
I would like to urge your newspaper to join the growing list of other papers across the country which have dropped Ms Coulter’s column because of her recent offensive remarks, and denial that the word “faggot” is harmless and inoffensive to gay Americans.
Thank you for considering this issue. No matter your decision on this matter, I would appreciate a reply.
Naturally, I signed it with my name, but you could copy and paste it and sign with yours. It’s better if you write your own letter though. Let me know of any replies you recieve from the editors, and I’ll publish them here.
