John McCain on ABC’s “This Week with George Stephanopoulos” February 4th, 2007, discussing how long America should wait for the situation in Iraq to improve.
As I said on the YouTube comments, this is absolutely ridiculous.
The first comment is discussing the unrealistic idea that the situation in Iraq will be all better in a few months. The second is specifically in regards to Iraqi governmental cooperation. The two are not the same thing. To call this a flip-flop shows either A) a complete lack of understanding of the Iraq war or B) pathetic straining to undermine the Senator without actually addressing the content of his comments.
Consider this: you have a sore throat, fever, and a cough. Your doctor prescribes medication saying that you won’t be better by tomorrow and later says your temperature should be gone by tomorrow. Is he flip-flopping? Only if you take his comments completely out of context.
Here’s a tip: If you want people to take you seriously, practice good journalism. Just ask Jayson Blair.
