When was the last time ‘08 GOP hopeful Duncan Hunter looked at a map?

I don’t know who’s running Team Hunter, but I’m not impressed. Representative Duncan ‘I will lecture visitors to my website‘ Hunter (R-CA) just dropped an ad buy in my home state, New Hampshire. The focus of the ad? Immigration. Immigration-immigration-immigration. He stands in front of a fence on the US-Mexico border in the ad. You can watch the 30 second ad spot below.
Now, I don’t know when the last time Duncan Hunter looked at a map, but I’d be willing to bet that it’s been a while. In case you’re not familiar with the United States of America (and I’m guessing you are, but just in case Hunter himself is reading this right now), New Hampshire is just about as far away from the US-Mexico border you can get.

Sure, NH is a traditionally Republican state (though this is changing), but more for fiscal reasons than any of the social issues that Republicans seem to think is their key to success. Immigration is pretty much a non-issue there, and even if it was an issue, it’d sooner be Canadian immigration rather than Mexican. As it is however, I have no reason to think that Hunter’s little ad is going to play well or even be noticed. Hunter is scheduled to visit New Hampshire early next week, on Monday. The ad is also reportedly airing in Iowa.
As a side note, anybody else notice that “Peace Through Strength,” the name of Hunter’s PAC, is quite similar to the Orwellian phrase “Peace through war”? Surely that’s… unintentional?
