An Inconvenient Truth in Scotland:
The film about climate change, An Inconvenient Truth, made by the former US vice-president Al Gore, is to be shown in secondary schools in Scotland as part of a new learning initiative unveiled today
[…]
Initial pilot screenings are anticipated to take place towards the end of the current academic year with the full package available to schools in time for the start of the 2007-08 school year
An Inconvenient Truth in the USA:
“Condoms don’t belong in school, and neither does Al Gore. He’s not a schoolteacher,†said Frosty Hardison, a parent of seven who also said that he believes the Earth is 14,000 years old. “The information that’s being presented is a very cockeyed view of what the truth is. … The Bible says that in the end times everything will burn up, but that perspective isn’t in the DVD.â€
It should be noted however that there is an effort to supply American teachers with free copies of the documentary, though I dunno how much use it’ll be if school boards ban the film, or restrict it so that it can only be shown alongside a creationist film like they did in the article linked to above.
