What John Edwards and I have in common

Site difficulties
Unfortunately, the site has been having some problems over the past 24 hours or so, due to a problem on the part of my webhost, GoDaddy.com. The last update I got from them was that their “Advanced Technical Support Team” was working on my “complex issue” and their “most skilled technicians” will be working nonstop to fix the problem. So I’m sorry if the site acts unreliably and I swear it really isn’t my fault in the least bit. Anyways, I’m going do my best to blog in the meantime and hopefully by the time you’re reading this, everything will be fixed again.

A few upcoming items you can definitely expect in the next couple days are some fun 2007 predictions, a huge list of end of the year lists that I’ve been compiling for more than a week now, and of course my new op-ed in Truthout which will be published at the end of this week (I’ll link to it on Friday). And of course there’ll be lots of normal blogging in between.

John Edwards’ big day
At least I wasn’t the only one having website problems yesterday. Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards who will be announcing his Presidential campaign today had a slip up yesterday when his website accidentally announced his canidacy a 24 hours early. The problem was quickly corrected, but not before plenty of reporters saw it though.

Edwards’ website is now officially operating in candidate mode. Interestingly enough, yesterday John Edwards made a videoblog on YouTube, saying that he would announce his candidacy Thursday morning. From the video, he urged viewers to join his political action network and said “we need to reject this McCain doctorine of sending more troops to Iraq.” You can watch the video here. I’ve added him to our now giant “Who opposes troop surges” list accordingly. The primary tenents of Edwards platform according to his website are:

-Provide moral leadership in the world
-Strengthen our middle class and end poverty
-Guarantee universal health care for every American
-Lead the fight against global warming
-Get America and other countries off our addiction to oil

They’re vague, but they don’t sound bad.
