| Video- Representative Goode Koran debacle

Below is coverage from FOX News and CNN, including clips from interviews with both Representative Goode, the Republican Rep who wants to restrict immigration by religion (i.e. less Muslims allowed), and the newly elected Democratic Rep Ellison, the first Muslim member of Congress. Goode caused a stir recently when he protested Ellison’s plan to use the Koran instead of The Bible in the unofficial swearing in ceremony (the official swearing in ceremony doesn’t allow any religious texts). Goode says only The Bible should be used in the ceremony, which is actually a customary re-enactment for the press and families. Note that Representative Goode has not raised any objections in the past when Jewish Representatives use the Torah or other religious texts in the unofficial swearing in ceremony.
