‘08ers- Obama’s announcement timing
by Arlen Parsa

Photo taken yesterday during Senator Obama’s trip to New Hampshire.
I’m from New Hampshire, and I’ve been right there. That’s at the Manchester airport. I have so totally gone up those escalators (there is actually a second one on the other side of the stairs but you can’t really see it). Man, how cool is that. Actually, that cop looks kinda familiar too come to think of it. Shrug, it’s a small state, haha. Note how awkward the Senator’s aides look, just standing around and waiting. That’s one in the back with the sweater, and one to the left of Obama.’
Newsweek cites Obama aides who say that he is “about 80 percent likely” to seek the White House.
By the way, January is still gonna be the time Obama announces (as I said on Friday). Every day, I am more and more confident of this- he personally is saying “early in the new year” while other people are saying it could happen anytime after January 1st. Kos writes:
Obama will likely wait a few months more since really, what’s the hurry? He’s got the fawning press all over him already. He might as well wait until that sort of peters out, announce, then recapture the media spotlight.
Obviously kos has a fairly optimistic picture of how long the fawning press will last. I’m still betting on January. Besides, there’s no point in waiting until he loses the spotlight. Once you’ve lost it, it’s an uphill battle to get it back. No, January will be the month.
Update: Oh-ho-ho. Obama was asked about whether or not race would effect his chances in an ‘08 run. He replied “Are some voters not going to vote for me because I’m African-American? Those are the same voters who probably wouldn’t vote for me because of my politics.”
