Grover Norquist, Abramoff-associated conservative mega-lobbyist says:
Although some glitz has come off Mr Rove, Republicans have been more eager to blame botched campaigns and individual ethics scandals. “Bob Sherwood’s seat [in Pennsylvania] would have been overwhelmingly ours, if his mistress hadn’t whined about being throttled,” said Mr Norquist. Any lessons from the campaign? “Yes. The lesson should be, don’t throttle mistresses.”
Yes, if only his mistress had kept quiet about being choked and assaulted by her lover, a married Republican Congressman 30 years older than herself (Don Sherwood). What a whiner. Just couldn’t stop whining about it.
As an aside, the lesson that Norquist takes away not to ‘throttle’ (read: beat, choke) your mistress? How about not cheat on your wife in the first damn place?
