Iraq: As American death-toll surges, so do troop levels

As mentioned yesterday, the American death toll for October in Iraq surpassed 100, the highest by far this year. The Pentagon now says that the sheer number of American troops in Iraq has “swelled” to 150,000 (also the highest since January). AFP notes that earlier this year when troop-reduction seemed possible, there were only 127,000 Americans stuck in Iraq.
