Two new polls today (one an internal Dem poll and the other by a Democratic strategy group) indicate that Dems hold new leads in two key Senate races which polling had earlier indicatd that Republicans held a slight edge.

Virginia- Democratic challenger Jim Webb holds a lead of 5 points over Republican incumbent George Allen in a new internal poll comissioned by the DSCC which shows Webb at 43% and Allen having sunk to 38%.

Tennessee- Democratic candidate Harold Ford Jr appears to have a slight majority over Republican Bob Corker according to a poll by the Benson Strategy Group. The poll shows Ford with 48% over Corker (at 43%) in this state currently represented by retiring Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist.

If Dems were to take both of these seats on November 7, they would only need one more in order to gain a 1-seat majority in the Senate.
